Academic Enrichment

Our academic camps can be taken just for fun, to get ahead or for review. We offer opportunities in many different areas and grade levels. Each class is sure to make learning different and exciting!
 
Academic Enrichment Camps are only offered in July and August 2025.

  • 7:45 - 9 a.m. Early Birds

  • 9 a.m. - Noon Morning Camp (Choose from Specialty, Athletic, Academic, or Morning Mania camps)

  • Noon - 1 p.m. Lunch & Lounge 

  • 1 - 4 p.m. Afternoon Camp (Choose from Specialty, Athletic, Academic, or Afternoon Adventures camps)

  • 4 - 5 p.m. Bonus Hour

  • Leap into Learning

    Rising 3rd Graders

    Rise to the occasion and get ready for 3rd grade. Explore the fundamentals of reading and math with this half-day infusion of learning and fun. Campers will brush up on academic skills through various literacy and math-based activities and games.

  • Multiplication Mania

    Rising 3rd - 5th Graders

    Brush up on your math facts this summer! During this camp, we will explore the concept of multiplication through games, activities, and projects. Our goal is to build automaticity and speed of multiplication and division facts over the course of the week. This camp is perfect for rising third graders who have been exposed to multiplication and rising fourth and fifth graders who want to practice their multiplication and division facts.

  • Chill Out with Summer Treats

    During Chill Out with Summer Treats Camp, we’ll travel around Richmond on an STC bus to sample and taste our favorite summer treats.  Each student will be invited to sample ice cream, Slurpees, and frozen yogurt delights. Campers will learn the characteristics of an effective food review and write and publish reviews of their favorite (or not-so-favorite) summer treats. Join us!

  • Exploring Writing through Picture Books

    Rising 2nd - 4th Graders

    Young authors in this camp will read classic picture books, including Goodnight Moon and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. We will discuss what makes each book great, and then the authors will write their own stories in the same style. We will read, write, publish, and share a new book each day!

This camp is specially designed for rising 2nd graders and will be filled with exciting activities that spark creativity, build confidence, and encourage teamwork. Using summer themes like ocean animals and the beach, Language Arts and math skills will be sharpened in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Academically, we will focus on reading, mathematics, and social-emotional skills. We will study the concepts of story elements, inferencing, summarizing, and predicting from nonfiction texts. During math, campers will dive into multiplication and division math facts, rounding, place value, word problems, adding and subtracting larger numbers, and multiplying using different strategies. Campers will also have opportunities to work together on their social skills as they complete hands-on activities for growth in communication and expression. Free time for outside or nonacademic indoor activities will also be included for campers. All materials will be provided.

    Let’s give your rising first grader a boost of confidence and a kickstart to reading and math right before they head back to school! We will start to think and act like first-grade boys and girls by participating in morning meeting discussions, working in small cooperative groups on reading, writing, and math skills, listening to award-winning stories, and sharing our learning at the end of the day. We’ll also have fun doing independent projects and getting a feel for the first-grade routine. Let’s get our first-grade feet wet in a first-grade classroom with a first-grade teacher and make new first-grade friends!

    After reading the novel, students will have the opportunity to choose a project that sparks their imagination. Whether analyzing the book's tone, delving deep into character development, or recreating a favorite scene, each project will involve a creative and written component and show evidence of reading comprehension.
     
    This immersive camp is perfect for students who love reading, storytelling, and creative expression.

    The Precalculus Prep Boot Camp focuses on improving skills and building confidence to help each student prepare for Precalculus. Students will review all major concepts from Algebra I and Algebra II through independent practice, small group activities, and one-on-one instruction. Right triangle trigonometry will also be reviewed.
