Summer Institute on Leadership & Public Service

Leadership Through Service

The Summer Institute on Leadership and Public Service is committed to teaching high school students that, through public service and civic responsibility, they can forge relationships and discover avenues to initiate change within their communities.

The two-week program includes a diverse group of students from the Richmond metropolitan area who gain exposure to a variety of issues currently facing their community and experience ethical leadership through service.

Through classroom and hands-on settings, including a leadership curriculum, internships and problem-solving exercises, students will focus on a specific theme especially relevant to the greater Richmond community, such as social justice. The Institute will partner with various nonprofit, for-profit, and government organizations in the Richmond metropolitan area.

The Summer Institute on Leadership and Public Service takes place on the campus of St. Christopher's School during a week in June. Each student who successfully completes the program will receive a stipend.
