On Monday, October 7, varsity soccer welcomed Cape Henry Collegiate to Massey Field in a game rescheduled from September. After a very strong effort, they came away with a draw, moving their record to 4-3-4.
Even with Cape Henry coming in #1 in the most recent VISAA poll, the Saints were the ones coming out more aggressive. They pressed up very high, and caused multiple turnovers in Cape Henry's own half. They had numerous good chances, but were unable to find the back of the net. In the 29th minute, Cape Henry opened the scoring after a fortunate bounce when their initial shot attempt was deflected. For the rest of the half, the Saints continued controlling possession and making Cape Henry uncomfortable, but still went into the half down 1-0.
The second half was more of the same. Numerous big chances, but the Saints were unable to find the goal. In the 79th minute, the wall on Cape Henry's goal finally broke when Steven Bishara '25 flicked a corner from Tyler Overstreet '26 into the net, leveling the match. They had a few more chances to win it, but they had to settle for a draw. Brendan Dobzyniak '25 was one of the stars of the match in his St. Christopher's debut, playing all 90 minutes and controlling the midfield while also creating multiple looks on goal.
Their next match is on Thursday, October 10 against STAB on Massey Field under the lights at 6:30 pm.
