On Friday, September 28, the varsity football hosted the Benedictine Cadets at Knowles Field, losing 14-7.
Offensively, the Saints struggled to get the ball moving, netting 94 rushing yards and 99 passing yards as a team.
Their one touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from QB Chase Roberts ‘26 to WR Wally Jones ‘25 that was caught in the endzone during the last minute of regulation.
Despite the loss, the defense showed off impressive talent and a number of athletes stood out with big plays. OL/DL Darius Gray ‘26 had one of his best defensive performances yet, getting four TFLs, one sack, and a forced fumble in a dominant showing of pressure and pursuit. LB Lance Clelland ‘27 also had a sack and two TFLs.
The team as a whole put up a total of two sacks, nine TFLs, and two forced fumbles, both of which were recovered by LB Walker Turley ‘26 to give the Saints good field position.
Next Friday, on October 4, the Saints will face the 1-3 Fork Union Military Academy. Their last matchup, which came on the same day last year, resulted in a 62-6 win for the Saints.
