Saints Blowout Norfolk for an Impressive Second Win

On Friday, September 13, the varsity football team (2-1) won its second game of the season in a 27-6 blowout against Norfolk Academy (2-1).
On offense, the Saints dominated on the ground, continuing the trend set during their last game. RB Michael Farley Jr. ‘26 led the way, gaining a total of 121 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. Meanwhile, RB/LB Addison Gosline ‘25 displayed explosive athletic talent, gaining 95 yards on 4 carries, including a 77-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to put the Saints up 6-0.
QB Chase Roberts ‘27 had another good game behind center, completing 9 passes on 14 attempts for 105 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Both his touchdown passes were taken in by WR Jaerron Johnson ‘27, who had 70 receiving yards on 5 catches, including a 26-yard reception.
On the other side of the ball, the defense was in complete control, letting up just one touchdown in the fourth quarter. LBs Walker Turley ‘26 and Charlie Edmonds ‘26 each had 1 sack and 1 TFL, while DBs Collin Johnson ‘26 and Jayden Brown ‘25 both had 1 interception. Norfolk’s rushing offense was held to just 61 total yards, with the team averaging 1.9 yards per carry and only completing 8 passes throughout the game.
For their next matchup, the Saints will travel to Lake Taylor on Friday, September 20 for their first away game of the season. Their last matchup against Lake Taylor, played on September 14 of the 2023 season, resulted in a 34-7 win. If that success is replicated, the Saints will extend their winning streak to 3 for a 3-1 record.
