After the original first meet of the season for the varsity track team was rained out, the Saints traveled to Woodbridge on April 5 for their new first meet, the Gojekian Twilight Classic, and placed second with 84.5 points behind Woodbridge (128). Other competing schools included Lake Braddock (67), Mount Vernon (59), St. John Paul the Great (49), Gar-Field (48.50), Gainesville (48), Forest Park (45), Potomac (37), Colgan (37), Courtland (31), Saint Sebastian Academy (16), C.D. Hylton (4), Thomas Edison (4), Christ Chapel Academy (3), and Trinity Christian (2).
The Saints are coming off an incredible indoor season, winning the VA Prep League and the state championship, breaking multiple records along the way. With most of the team returning for the outdoor season there's a lot more to be accomplished!
Sophomore Victor Olesen opened up the scoring for the saints, earning 10 points and placing 1st in the pole vault with a height of 15-0. Junior Jayden Brown took fire soon after, placing second in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, earning a team high 16 points.
Other notable performances include a 3rd-place finish from senior Jacob Zollar in the 100m dash, a 3rd-place finish from senior Hunter Garnett in the 200m dash, and another 3rd-place finish for junior Addison Gosline in the long jump with a final distance of 20-5.
Additionally, the 4x100 team (Garnett, Gosline, Elisha Asare '26, Zollar) and distance medley relay team (Dougie Boardman '25, Asher Green '26, Beauford Mathews '25, Matthew Noble '25) also placed third.
The Saints next meet will be home on Wednesday, April 10 beginning at 4:00 PM.
