Coming off a day of no practices and a re-scheduling of this game due to the weather, the Saints welcomed Woodberry to Scott Gym for a Wednesday night matchup. They ended up taking a 65-62 win, moving their record to 11-2 on the year, and giving them a win in their first matchup of league play.
Early in the game, the lack of practice led to some rust for the Saints, as Woodberry jumped out to a 9-2 lead. However, the Saints offense got going soon, with a three from Stuart Cosby '25 starting it off. He continued his hot shooting from last week, once again hitting five shots from behind the arc. He took over late in the second quarter, hitting four of those threes in a two-minute stretch. Going into the half, the Saints held the lead, but did not have much room for error.
In the third quarter, Woodberry continued to hang around, never letting the Saints pull away. Late in the third quarter, Brandon Jennings, '24 finished off a tough layup through a foul, and with that shot, he was over 1,000 points in his varsity career. Jennings put in another massive performance, pouring in 26 points and rejecting three shots. Late in the game, he went to the line with 1.5 seconds to play, and St. Christopher's was holding a 1-point lead. He sunk both free throws and Woodberry's half-court heave was off-target, giving the Saints a tight victory.
Their next action will be at 7 pm on Friday, January 11, when they take on Trinity at Scott Gym.
