Over the weekend of October 26, varsity soccer took a pair of wins. With the two victories, they have moved their record to 10-3-4 going into the state tournament.

The first and more important of the two matches was on Friday the 25th at Woodberry. After their draw on Monday with Collegiate, they needed to win this match to secure a split of the Prep League title. Luke Ryan '25 scored the Saints' lone goal of the match, and a strong defensive showing gave them a 1-0 victory. They finished the Prep League with a record of 3-0-1, taking 10/12 available points and splitting the title with Collegiate.

The day after, the Saints welcomed Sussex Academy from Delaware to Massey Field for the Fall Festival game. While matches played against teams outside of Virginia don't affect the state tournament rankings, it was a good opportunity for a tune-up against a team that Maxpreps has as the second-best team in Delaware. One storyline for the Saints was their missing players. They had to cope with missing two starters in Steven Bishara '25 and Cade Cox '26, but they were also missing bench depth. For example Beckett Scallon '26 would have been Bishara's replacement at center back, but he was unavailable as well. Carson Stalker '26 left his usual winger or attacking midfield position to go play center back, and he had an incredible performance in the back line. Having someone with an attacking skillset playing center back also allowed Coach Wood to experiment with some new tactics. In light of his brother's absence, Adam Bishara '28 was called up from the JV team to play in this match. He was given a good amount of minutes, and he certainly made the most of them in the midfield. The two sides went to the half at 0-0, but a Jack Bleecher '25 header off a corner in the 75th minute and a Lukas Gordinier '26 rocket from outside of the box just eight minutes later gave the Saints a comfortable 2-0 win to wrap up their regular season.

The Saints move into the playoffs on great form, having won seven of their last eight matches and being unbeaten in their last nine going back to October 1.  With the recent success, they were given the #5 seed in the VISAA tournament. They will open their playoff campaign with a first-round matchup against #12 seed Norfolk Academy on Friday, November 1, on Massey Field at 5 pm. No matter the result of this match, it will be the last chance for fans to come cheer on the Saints on their home campus this season.
