Varsity Basketball Dominates FUMA

by Edison Pellumbi '25
On Tuesday, January 28, varsity basketball won big over FUMA by a score of 84-36. This was the conclusion of one of their most physically taxing stretches of the season, being the fourth game in the last five days. They ended that tough stretch 3-1 with wins over FUMA, Steward, and Collegiate, and losing on the road to John Marshall.

Early on, the Saints struggled a bit. They had already beaten this Fork Union team 82-47 once on the road this year but were unable to really pull away in the first half of their second meeting. While FUMA pulled to within three in the final minutes of the second quarter, the Saints were able to stretch the lead to eight going into the break.

The second half was an entirely different story. With Elijah Brandon '26 leading the way offensively, the Saints outscored Fork Union 47-10 in the second half, including only allowing 2 points in the entire fourth quarter.

With the win, the Saints now move their record to 16-2 on the year and are 8-0 in the Prep League. Their next game is on Friday, January 31 when they take on Trinity Episcopal for the third time this season, this time at Scott Gym, 7 pm tip.
