Knighton '25 Fires 1-Hitter

by Edison Pellumbi '25
In a long-running tradition, the Saints and Benedictine took part in the annual Jacob's Chance game on Saturday, April 5. StC won 4-0, moving its season record to 7-4.

The Saints bats woke up early, as they had runners on second and third with nobody out in the top of the first. They were able to plate one run, as Henry Knighton '25 had an RBI groundout. They later added another run in the next inning as Austen Wrinkle '26 came across after a leadoff single.

Knighton got the ball for the Saints, and he was flawless. The score held at 2-0 through six, and in the first five he never surrendered more than one walk in an inning. The Cadets were able to get runners to second and third with two outs after a walk and a bloop hit in the 6th - the only Knighton would surrender - but a strikeout ended their hopes of a rally.

Wally Jones '25 led the seventh off with a booming double off the top of the wall, which set the tone as the Saints scored two more runs to double their lead. Knighton came out for the seventh with a chance to finish off his spectacular night, and he struck out the side to complete his gem.

Their next action will be on Tuesday, April 8 when they welcome Collegiate at 4:45 PM on Jacobs Field.
