Varsity Basketball Wins Pair Of Weekend Games

by Edison Pellumbi '25
On Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8, varsity basketball had a pair of games. They beat Woodberry Forest on Friday and cruised by Episcopal on Saturday, moving their record to an impressive 20-2 on the season, while remaining undefeated in the Prep League.

On Friday, they found themselves much closer with Woodberry than they were in their 75-47 win earlier in the season. In the third quarter, they found themselves trailing by three before on back to back to back possessions; Elijah Brandon '26 had an and-one, then two 3-pointers. Those nine points in quick succession gave the Saints a six-point lead, one they would never give back.

On Saturday, it was much smoother sailing. The Saints got out to a big lead early in which they only allowed five points in the first quarter, setting the tone for their best defensive performance of the season.

Their next action is on Thursday, February 13, when they travel to Charlottesville for a rematch with STAB at 6 PM with heavy implications. With a win, they would clinch the Prep League regular season championship, something they have not done since 2016. Even if they fail to win on Tuesday, they would still take a share of the title if they win Friday against Collegiate or if STAB loses on Friday against Woodberry.
