Varsity Soccer Opens Season With Win Over Christchurch

by Edison Pellumbi '25
In their debut match of this season, varsity soccer defeated Christchurch 4-2 at Massey Field Tuesday, September 3.

The Saints opened the scoring early, with Carson Stalker '27 taking advantage of a defensive mistake by the Seahorses and putting the Saints on top. Christchurch did respond before the half, putting the two sides level at one.

StC came out of the break firing, as Max Mumford '25 put a shot into the top right corner from well out of the box to make the score 2-1. Later, Jack Bleecher '25 won a foul in the box then converted the penalty, making it 3-1. Christchurch did score again, but a Chase Buerlein '27 goal put the advantage back to two goals and put the game away.

The Saints' next action is on Thursday, September 5 when they welcome Gonzaga to Massey Field at 5 pm.
