Varsity Soccer Beats STAB Under The Lights

by Edison Pellumbi '25
Coming off one of their best performances of the season in their draw against Cape Henry on October 7, the Saints followed it up with a 2-1 win over St. Anne's Belfield on Thursday, October 11.

The Saints' momentum from the last match didn't last long, as STAB found their first goal under 100 seconds into the match. From there, the Saints had a tough time early, facing a very talented STAB backline. In the 28th minute, Jack Bleecher '25 won a free kick, and his attempt on goal was punched away by the keeper right to Lukas Gordinier '26, who slotted it in the back of the net and leveled the match. The first half remained quiet from there, and they went into the break at 1-1. Just a few minutes into the second period, Gordinier sent in a corner that fell loose out in front of goal, and Carson Stalker '26 blasted it into the top corner to give StC a 2-1 advantage. A very strong defensive performance kept STAB off the board, and the score ended there.

With the win, they move to 5-3-3 on the season and 2-0-0 in the Prep League. Their next match is on Tuesday, October 15 on the road against Veritas.
