Down 13 points, varsity football's offense finally showed life, going on a 72-yard drive to cut Fork Union's lead to one score halfway through the fourth period.

But the Blue Devils run game milked the clock and scored late as the Saints fell 26-14 at Fork Union Friday evening.

Charlie de Venoge '16 ran 20 times for 71 yards and a score. Jeb Bemiss '16 threw for 148 yards, a TD and an interception. 

Paul Thompson '17 led the defense with 11 tackles as the Saints played with several players out with injuries, including three of four captains (Sean Menges '16, Tazle Sumpter '16 and Ned Tazewell '16).

The Saints (0-1 Prep League, 4-2) return to Knowles Field Oct. 17 for a Fall Festival battle with Paul VI.
