Varsity Baseball Defeats Collegiate

by Edison Pellumbi '25
On Tuesday, April 8, varsity baseball took a hard-fought 6-5 win over rivals Collegiate. This win moved their record to 8-4 overall.

The Saints bats woke up quickly, as a pair of RBI hits from freshmen Gibson Beck and Toney Smith gave them a quick 3-0 lead in the second. They added another run in the next inning to stretch the lead to 4-0.

Christian Gray '26 worked a quick first three innings before the Cougars found some success in the fourth, cutting the StC lead to 4-3. The lead stayed there until the sixth, where the Saints plated two more to give themselves some added insurance.

The Cougars had their best chance of the game in the top half of that inning, as they had runners on first and second with nobody out before Beck entered on the mound and escaped the jam unscathed. With the lead sitting at 6-3, the Saints did surrender two in the final inning, but were able to get out with a close 6-5 win.

Their next action is on Thursday, April 10 when they travel to take on the Cougars in a rematch at 4 pm.
