Time Trial Tri-Meet Yields 22 More Personal Bests

Coach Carrier
In just the 2nd year of our new year-end tradition, the time trial meet with St. Michael's & St. Bridget once again led to a cascade of personal bests for the Saints.
After starting up this time trial tri-meet tradition last year, it once again proved to be a very successful endeavor.  The goal is to squeeze out a few more personal bests before the end of the season, and for our team specifically, a chance to swim an event or two that we have not done in a while.  The "Floating Fleurs", as I jokingly renamed us in the heat sheet to have a little extra fun today, had arguably the best performance of any team out there today.  The meet yielded 40 personal bests through 62 swims.  We almost had more than half of those with 22 personal bests out of 26 swims.  This included going 8 for 8 in freestyle personal bests.  That is about an 85% personal best rate, 20% higher than the meet personal best rate.  More importantly, we had a 100% personal best rate in terms of how many swimmers on the team earned at least one personal best.  Although we missed Christian & Tristan due to being sick, George to his NOVA practice, and Braxton with his first day back without his boot (who was once again cheering us on like he did last Friday night!), we know they will be back at full strength next weekend at Champs to continue the momentum with the rest of the 13 boys from today as we shoot for more personal bests to close out the year.

Blake Reed led us in dropped time last Friday with his huge drops in the 200 Free and 100 Free, and along with his personal best today in the 50 Free, his big drops from last Friday seemed to rub off on many of his teammates today.  James Pickren was the big drop in the 50 Free, dropping over 3 seconds from his flat start time and even beating his best relay split.  The 50 Fly was our big event on the day with 8 entries.  It also saw some of the biggest drops as Woods Taliaferro dropped 6.5 seconds and a slew of guys each dropped 3 seconds - Max Dyshlevyi, Lowndes Peple, Chris Rauchle, Patrick Santangelo, and Camden Stanley.  After the break, Daniel Basmajian dropped 5 seconds in his 50 Back and Jack Bodt dropped 4.  In the 50 Breast, Woods, Patrick, Max, and Charlie Johnson each dropped 2 seconds, while Lowndes dropped a whopping 6 seconds.  We closed out the meet with the 100 Free and, like the 50 Free, had a perfect 4 for 4 in terms of personal bests.  Levon Morgan had a massive drop of over 10 seconds, Charlie dropped 3.5 seconds (minutes after swimming a PR in his 50 Breast), James dropped almost 5 seconds, and Jackson Gardner dropped 1.5 seconds.

We did not keep score in this meet, but as mentioned earlier, we won in terms of the main goal of this meet, which was to drop time.
