Nice Weather at Roslyn Leads to Personal Bests

Coach Carrier
Thanks to everyone who made it out today, even with all the parking challenges.  It was certainly nice weather for spectators.  I know the boys would have liked it a few degrees cooler, as that sun felt a bit warmer than expected today.  I think the rainy, cloudy conditions from last time at Roslyn minimized the chance at improvement today, but almost everyone dropped time anyway!

It was a quick turnaround from FUMA on Saturday, but we came in with a few layers of goals.  First, beat the time each runner earned at the first Roslyn meet three weeks ago.  We did that almost across the board.  Henry Peace led that department with his huge drop of almost two minutes (1:55).  He even came within 6 seconds of getting himself on the all-time sub-15:00 list on that course.  Ely Irving and Brennan Regan also dropped over a minute from the first Roslyn meet, with 1:17 for Ely and 1:14 for Brennan.  Davis Mullen, Burn Bradshaw, and McCoy Eakin were all in the 25-33 second range of dropped time.  There were even 5 runners who eclipsed the goal time I had set for them based off of their FUMA mile pace, which was the other layer to our goals for the day.

I mentioned that Henry almost got on the sub-15:00 list with his time of 15:05.  Charlie Branch got on that list last year and has worked his way down to 11th.  Davis Mullen got on the list last meet and worked his way down by over 20 slots, tying Jack Parker for 7th best STC runner on this course.  In fact, I believe Davis surpassed Aubrey Bowles' best 7th grade time on this course by 1 second.

In the score, it was another dominating performance, putting 5 in the top 14 (3, 4, 8, 11, 14) and scoring 32 points to Veritas' 70.  Although I am more worried about Veritas next year as they have a lot of strong 6th and 7th graders (their 2nd runner who is a 6th grader was absent today too), they could creep up on us in some of the later meets this season.  There were 11 other scoring teams today, so we moved our record to a perfect 41-0, heading into some of our longest races of the season.
