Indoor Track league champs

by JT Mason '24
The Saints fought the Prep League, and the Saints won!

Going up against the entirety of the Prep League, the indoor track team scored 146 points to top Collegiate, Fork Union, Norfolk Academy, Trinity Episcopal, St. Anne's-Belfield, and the previous champion and this year's runner-up, Woodberry Forest.

Sophomore Maddox White led the way for the Saints, scoring 22.5 points by winning the 55-meter dash, the 300, and the 4x200m relay featuring Hunter Garnett '24, Addison Gosline '25 and Elisha Asare '26, with White the anchor and meet's running MVP, passing Fork Union in the last leg of the race.

White was closely tailed in point total by sophomore Asher Green '26, who scored 20 points, taking first in both the 1600 and 3200.

Runner and vaulter Victor Olesen, '26 was another bright spot for the Saints, not only breaking his own personal record but also the St. Christopher's indoor track and field record for pole vault (which was previously set at 16'2" by previous alum Harrison Rice '18) not once, not twice, but FOUR times in a row! Olesen also helped the 4x400 team of himself, Beauford Mathews '25, Coleman Mayer '27, and Avi Gupta '25 to another first-place finish.

Other outstanding performances:
- First-place 4x800 relay team (Mathews, Noah Smith '27, Dougie Boardman '25, Patrick Mayer '24, - in order of running)
- Mayer placed second with a new season best in the 1000
- Jayden Brown '25 placed second in the 55 hurdles
- Henry Rice '25 placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 43'2.75"
- Garnett placed third overall in the 300m dash
- Smith placed third in the 500m dash.

Also, coach Marshall Ware '81 was named Prep League coach of the year.

Going into the last meet of the season (for most), the upcoming state meet Saturday, February 17 at St. Christophers beginning at 10 AM, is going to be a meet prioritizing the individual and a time for reflection upon the previous meets.
