Macon Moring, a student in Mrs. Dugan's seventh grade Spanish class, recently submitted a story that he wrote in Spanish to
Revista Literal, a new online e-zine for people learning the language. Not only did Macon earn extra credit for his submission, the new publication
included his story in its latest issue.
Translated, Macon's story reads:
One day Marco is in his house. He eats pizza. After 30 minutes he leaves his house and plays basketball for an hour. Then Marco is very tired and wants water. He's also hungry. He wants to eat!
Marco goes toward his house. He's going to enter the house. But, there's a problem. When Marco tries to enter the door, the door is locked! Marco is very furious. It's impossible to open the door! Marco sees a window. He sees a rock. He throws the rock at the window, but the rock doesn't break the window. Marco is sad.
He goes to the house of his friend. His friend opens the door and asks, "Why are you at my house?" Marco says, "Because the door to my house is locked. It's impossible to open the door to my house!" His friend is very strong. He has enormous muscles.
The two friends go to Marco's house. They go toward the closed door and his friend uses his enormous muscles. He's very strong! His friend breaks the door. His friend opens the door!
Marco enters his house. But, when he enters his house, there isn't anything to eat. He looks and looks, but there is nothing to eat. Marco does not have food and he can't eat anything. He is sad and cries.
