The outdoor track and field team placed second at the Prep League meet it hosted on Cal Boyd Track Saturday, May 11.
Field Event Performer of the Meet Victor Olesen '26 continues to obliterate record books, pole vaulting 17-7, establishing a new meet, school and state of Virginia high school record.
"During warmups, everything just clicked," Olesen said. "The competitive nature of the meet really helped."
What helped the Saints place second was strong performances from a number of athletes.
Maddox White '26 won the 100-meter dash in 10.77, and placed second in the 200 to teammate Jacob Zollar '24. Zollar won the 200 from the second-fastest heat, an unlikely outcome as sometimes it can be tougher to run faster with the slower seeds. Zollar also placed third in the long jump.
The relays fared very well, led by the winning 4x800 team of Beauford Mathews '25, Matthew Noble '25, Dougie Boardman '25 and Avi Gupta '25. The 4x100 and 4x400 teams also placed second.
Patrick Mayer '24 got a silver medal in the 800, followed by Noah Smith '27. Asher Green '26 was the runner-up in the 1600, and Grayson Herndon '25 placed third in shot put.
